Superlative RM is proud to join in 2021 Receivables Management Association International Receivables Management Association International (RMAI) Legislative Fund support as a Silver Level Donor. Our team is appreciative of the ongoing and upcoming state and federal advocacy efforts of the RMAI Federal and State Legislative Committees, and the dedication of each of its staff and volunteer members.

Legislative Advocacy

RMAI advocates on behalf of the ARM industry as it pertains to matters of federal and state legislation as well as certain matters in the courts. Legislators often learn from and appreciate the education the RMAI provides regarding the potential impact of proposed legislation, as they can provide deeper insight into the day-to-day operations of our businesses and our professions. Building relationships and providing education about our industry helps regulation development bodies such as the OCC, FTC, and CFPB create more tailored and informed regulatory and legislative strategies aimed at protecting consumers, and helps to differentiate the contrast between “good players” and “bad players” in targeted enforcement efforts.

Past and Ongoing Efforts

RMAI has successfully made an impact in the outcomes of several key pieces of state legislation and maintains a presence in Washington D.C. While firmly in support of measures toward increased consumer protection, RMAI advocates serve to color such efforts with increased understanding regarding sound business practices and the importance of our industry in the greater financial services sector for the maintenance of a healthy credit ecosystem.

New Administration

Advocacy efforts are always of critical importance following times of change in government administration, as there are new relationships to be built and new legislators and regulators to inform. Thus, 2021 is of particular importance for expanded RMAI advocacy efforts. “We are thankful for the work being done by RMAI on our behalf and we feel businesses like ours must contribute to the success of these efforts,” shared Mr. Jerry Terrill, President and CEO of Superlative RM.

A Voice of Positive Representation

“We work hard to operate fairly and with integrity, and we know that RMAI will help legislators to recognize that our work adds value to the economy while protecting consumers from unfair or abusive acts. We do not stand for consumer exploitation and neither does RMAI. That’s a voice that our industry needs,” continued Mr. Terrill.
